چکیده

Introduction: Amblyopia significantly contributes to low vision and blindness in adults an Indonesian rural setting. The treatment of amblyopia, particularly anisometropic and/or strabismic has long been challenging for many clinicians. This study aims report a promising result refractive correction, occlusion therapy, oral citicoline on mixed amblyopia with optic nerve hypoplasia adult patients. Case Presentation: A 20-year-old male chief complaint blurry right eye since one year ago, becoming more severe lately. patient had his childhood. History using -5 concave spherical lens RE, the normal LE. Visual acuity (VA) RE was 3/60 LE 6/30. deviated, 30° exotropia. Nystagmus also found. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination found maculopathy both eyes. We treated spectacles correct error, occluded fixing eye, gave citicoline. Conclusions: Refractive correction therapy are still meaningful choices have shown be effective treating combined prevent cell damage. Our case patient, showed good results post-treatment prognosis decrease exotropia degree disappearance nystagmus just two months.

Article 4 Relative Amblyopia Secondary to Anisometropia in a Patient with Ipsilateral Optic Nerve Hypoplasia

Background: Optic nerve hypoplasia (ONH) is a developmental disorder in which the optic nerve is small and/or there are fewer than normal nerve fibers present. Visual acuity (VA) loss from ONH ranges from none to severe, depending on the extent of macular nerve fiber loss. It is common for patients with decreased vision from unilateral ONH to develop ipsilateral amblyopia secondary to constant ...

Optic Nerve Hypoplasia

Congenital anomalies of the optic disc underlie many cases of decreased vision, strabismus, and nystagmus in childhood. A comprehensive evaluation necessitates an understanding of the ophthalmoscopic features, associated neuro-ophthalmologic findings, pathogenesis, and appropriate ancillary studies for each anomaly. The subclassification of different forms of “colobomatous” defects on the basis...

Monocular nystagmus with sectoral optic nerve hypoplasia in a patient with septo-optic dysplasia.

This case depicts an unusual presentation of septo-optic dysplasia. A four-year-old female presented with monocular nystagmus and temporal optic disc pallor in her left eye. Despite a normal sized optic nerve head, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a hypoplastic intraorbital and intracranial left optic nerve in the absence of a septum pellucidum. She was subsequently diagnosed with septo-...

Spectrum of optic nerve hypoplasia.

Optic nerve hypoplasia is a non-progressive condition characterised by subnormal vision and a subnormal number of optic nerve axons. It may be unilateral or bilateral, isolated or combined with other defects. Analysis of fundus photographs from a series of 7 patients with a stationary abnormality of different degrees showed that the functional defects could be closely correlated with defects in...

Hypoplasia of the optic nerve.

Hypoplasia of the optic nerve is uncommon (Scheie and Adler, I94I; Somerville, I962; Whinery and Blodi, I963; Ewald, I967). It is usually due to a failure of development of the ganglion cell layer of the retina and results in a small but discernible optic disc with central vessels. The disc may be cupped with a peripapillary, mottled, yellowish halo corresponding to the size of the normal disc,...
